We encourage you to watch the full video message from Founder Samantha Compton at the link below.
”There is a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1
Last fall, we as an Executive Team began our regular meetings about the upcoming year to discuss what things might change or be different. As we did our planning and praying, we continued to seek vision from the Lord. The history of Wise Women started with vision from the Lord, and He brought resources all along the way, so we’re always listening to make sure that we’re following His lead.
A few months into our planning, we began to realize that we didn’t feel settled about the directions, so we pushed pause, and we sat with Him and asked Him together, “Lord, what is it that you’re leading us to do?”
After some asking and a lot of praying, we began to realize that the Lord was leading for the season of Wise Women luncheons to end.
We realize this decision may bring up different emotions. Maybe you may feel sadness, maybe you feel neutral, or maybe you’re relieved to have a day of your month freed up. Whatever emotions you experience, we have all felt similar things through this process. It has not been an easy decision, and it’s not been done or taken lightly.
Here’s what we do know: It is always wise to end something when the Lord is leading that direction, just as it was wise to begin something when God was leading that direction.
We know that when He ends something, He’s usually beginning something else. It may not be something formalized through Wise Women, but maybe you’re going to be a part of carrying the Wise Women mission forward in your daily life or connecting with other women. While we may not know exactly what that looks like, we know that we can trust the Lord.
The May luncheons will be the final Wise Women luncheons. We hope that you can join us because it’s going to be an amazing celebration of eight years of Wise Women!
- Wednesday, May 7 in Overland Park (the first Wednesday instead of the second!)
- Thursday, May 8 in Lee’s Summit
Registration for the May luncheons will open on Wednesday, April 9, at the start of the April luncheon in Overland Park.
We also hope to see you in April! Registration is still open, but it closes soon: Friday, April 4 at 6 p.m. for Overland Park and Monday, April 7 at 6 p.m. for Lee’s Summit.
At the May celebration, we’re going to be spending time remembering what God has done in our midst, what relationships have been formed, what blessings we’ve had, etc. And we’re going to be looking forward to what’s ahead and how we can carry the Wise Women mission forward, even outside of the luncheon format.
If Wise Women has impacted you in any way, even if you haven’t been for years, we hope that you will come and join our celebration in May!
Thank you so much for being part of this journey! We hope you’ll watch Samantha’s full video to hear the heart of her message. She certainly never expected Wise Women to have grown as it has, nor did she expect it to last eight years. She feels very blessed, our team feels very blessed, and YOU are the blessing that we are going to celebrate in May.
